Talari Networks is redefining WAN reliability and application performance quality. By aggregating multiple diverse networks into a virtual WAN and continuously adapting traffic based on the availability and real-time quality of the network paths, Talari ensures applications that rely on a WAN are not affected by underlying network issues. Talari’s patented technology delivers significant cost savings over single provider networks while also increasing reliability and quality. Talari has received numerous industry awards and accolades including being named a Gartner Cool Vendor, Best of Interop–Performance Optimization and Techworld Awards–2012 Networking Application Product of the Year.

Talari Networks was founded in 2007 and launched its initial beta product in early 2008. Since then, the company's patented products have been deployed in thousands of locations around the world.

Jeff Thermond
Chairman of the Board

An independent advisor to several startups, Jeff's 30-year career encompasses an impressive track record in leading and growing large organizations in global broadband and data networking markets. Formerly President and CEO of 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching vendor Woven Systems, he had previously led the team that established Broadcom's first foray into wireless products, which grew to a quarter of a billion dollars in five quarters. Before becoming a part of Broadcom, Jeff was the CEO of Epigram which pioneered the high speed home networking marketplace for semiconductors, which has grown into a multi-hundred million dollar market today. He later architected the sale of Epigram to Broadcom for what was the largest amount ever paid for a pre-revenue semiconductor start-up. He also served as vice president and general manager of 3Com's enterprise router business, growing it from $60 million to $350 million during his tenure. Jeff holds an MBA in marketing from Indiana University and a BA in psychology and philosophy from Yale University.

Emerick Woods
President & CEO

Emerick has led and founded a number of early stage high-technology companies as well as completed two initial public offerings. Before joining Talari Networks, he served most recently as CEO of Global IP Solutions (GIPS), a publicly listed company focused on voice and video media processing for IP networks, which he sold to Google after increasing revenue by 400 percent within 18 months. Previously, Emerick served as chief executive officer and completed the initial public offering for Vicinity Corporation, a publicly traded company—subsequently acquired by Microsoft—providing a location-based services platform to many of the world’s leading brands. He has also been chief executive at several other venture-backed companies—a number of which were acquired—focused on the mobile carrier, location-based services, and network infrastructure markets and has held a variety of general management and executive positions at Quarterdeck, Symantec, Central Point and Microcom. He began his career in consulting where he held positions at McKinsey & Company and Booz Allen & Hamilton. Emerick holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and a BSc computer science degree from Yale University.

H. DuBose Montgomery
Managing Director, Menlo Ventures

DuBose was a founder of Menlo Ventures in 1976, and has been an active director in many of the Firm's portfolio companies over the past 35 years. At Menlo, DuBose focuses on investments in leading companies in the information technology sector. Some of his current investments and board seats include: Entone, Firetide, freightquote.com, Mr. Number, NComputing. His prior investments include: Asthmatx, acquired by Boston Scientific (BSX); EndoVascular Technologies, acquired by Johnson & Johnson (JNJ); Frame Technology Corporation, acquired by Adobe Systems (ADBE); Gilead Sciences (GILD); Infoseek Corporation, acquired by the Walt Disney Co. (DIS); LSI Logic Corporation (LSI); Valid Logic Systems, acquired by Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) and VNUS Medical Technologies (VNUS), acquired by Covidien (COV). DuBose is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S. in Electrical Engineering, M.S. in Electrical Engineering, B.S. in Management Science) and the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration (M.B.A.). He previously served as a trustee of the Corporation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and on the MIT visiting committees for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and for Sponsored Research.

Mark Masur
General Partner, Silver Creek Ventures

Mark Masur has served as general partner of Dallas-based Silver Creek Ventures since founding the firm in 1995 to focus exclusively on early-stage investments in information technology. Mark's venture investment experience spans three decades beginning with InterFirst Venture Corporation in 1982 where he managed their technology investments. Some of Mark's previous investments include Xlinx, Inc., Alteon WebSystems (Nortel), ONI Systems (Ciena) and MetroPCS. In addition to Talari Networks, he is currently a director of Cellfire, Inc. and Bivio Networks. Mark is a graduate of Weber State College (BS) and the University of Denver (MBA).

Andy Gottlieb

A leading expert in WAN/LAN switching and routing, Andy founded Talari Networks and served as its first CEO after previously serving in executive roles in both startups and public corporations. He was Vice President of Marketing at RouteScience, a route optimization startup, and before that led marketing at MMC Networks, the pioneering Network Processor developer, through its $4.5B acquisition by Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) in 2000. Andy also served on the board of LVL7 Systems, a network processing software company. Previously, he spent more than a dozen years at 3Com Corporation, highlighted by his leadership of the Switching Systems business unit through its development and introduction of the CoreBuilder 9000 enterprise switching platform. He also served as 3Com's Vice President of Marketing for Large Enterprise Markets and held a number of other senior marketing, product management, and engineering roles. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in computer science from Stanford University.

Scott Bradner
Technology Security Officer, Harvard University

Scott has been involved in the design, operation, and use of data networks at Harvard University since the early days of ARPANET. He was involved in the design of the original Harvard data networks, the Longwood Medical Area network (LMAnet) and New England Academic and Research Network (NEARnet). He was founding chair of the technical committees of LMAnet, NEARnet and the Corporation for Research and Enterprise Network (CoREN). Scott served in a number of roles in the IETF. He was the co-director of the Operational Requirements Area (1993-1997), IPng Area (1993-1996), Transport Area (1997-2003) and Sub-IP Area (2001-2003). He was a member of the IESG (1993-2003) and was an elected trustee of the Internet Society (1993-1999), where he currently serves as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Scott is also a trustee of the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN). Scott helps the Harvard community handle technology-related privacy and security issues. He also provides technical advice and guidance on issues relating to the Harvard data networks and new technologies to Harvard's CIO. He founded the Harvard Network Device Test Lab, is a frequent speaker at technical conferences, a weekly columnist for Network World, and is an independent consultant.

Alan "Al" Etterman
Advisor

With a strong foundation in IT operations and infrastructure technologies, Alan "Al" Etterman has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the information technology industry and currently serves as an advisor to multiple startup efforts. Mr. Etterman has held executive positions in high growth companies as well as successful turn-around and restart situations in both the software and hardware manufacturing industries. Most recently Mr. Etterman was President of the Managed Services Division at FusionStorm following its acquisition of assets from Global Netoptex, where Mr. Etterman was CEO. Previously, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at JDSU a diversified technology company. Prior to JDSU Mr. Etterman was Senior Vice President of Corporate Infrastructure and Chief Information Officer at Openwave Systems.

From 1993 to 2001 Mr. Etterman held leadership positions at Cisco Systems where he served as Senior Director of Global Communications and Technology Services and led the implementation of the world's first large-scale VoIP communications systems. During this period he was responsible for leading Cisco's internal Networking, Information Security and Engineering Computing Services organizations. He created Cisco's Cisco On Cisco program which successfully deployed Cisco's emerging technologies in a production environment.

In addition Mr. Etterman has held management roles at 3Com Corporation, IBM, InteCom and GTE Automatic Electric. He also holds CIO Advisory Board positions for Panorama Capital, newScale and Telwares Inc.

David Flynn
CEO, Aerohive Networks, Inc.

David has more than 15 years experience in the networking and security industries working with both software and hardware products. He was Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at NetScreen Technologies from 1999 to 2004 where he drove marketing, product and corporate strategy leading to a successful IPO and the eventual $4 billion sale of the company to Juniper Networks. At Juniper, David served as Vice President of Products for the Security Products Group. Prior to NetScreen he worked at 3Com Corporation for 8 years, where he held various marketing and product management positions including Vice President of Marketing for the architecture and software operation in the Client Access Business Unit. David has an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in economics from Williams College.

Joe Furgerson
Consultant

Joe has extensive experience in routing and networking technologies, having spent eight years at 3Com Corporation before joining Juniper Networks as its first Vice President of Marketing and Product Management in January 1997. Joe's positioning strategies helped develop a strong public image that elevated Juniper's market visibility index and established the company as a technical innovator, a results-oriented company, and a significant competitor in the routing market. Subsequent to Juniper Networks, Joe has consulted with multiple startups on strategy and marketing, most recently Talari and Mu Dynamics, where he was also vice president of strategy. He has an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in economics from Claremont McKenna College.

Mike Lloyd, PhD
Chief Scientist, RedSeal Systems

Mike's 20-year professional and academic experience includes thought leadership and execution in the building of large-scale modeling and analysis systems. Prior to RedSeal Systems, Mike served as Chief Technologist for the Assured Networks division of Avaya. His prior experience also includes CTO and principle architect roles in route control technology and MPLS VPN provisioning systems. Mike has co-authored several patents on routing optimization and network traffic security, and actively collaborates on projects between academic and commercial research institutions.

Peter Long

Peter is currently the founder and managing partner at In Systems - a Melbourne, Australia based data and voice networking consultancy company.  Previously, he was a Cisco Systems marketing executive brings a track record of success with more than 20 years of experience in high-technology marketing, product management and large-scale product deployment. He was at Cisco for 8 years, most recently, as Director, Marketing, where he led global product management for Cisco IOS.  He also held roles as the VP Marketing at netZentry, Inc. and at Accenia, Inc, and as a networking consultant at Telstra, where he helped build Telstra’s first nationwide business Intranet.  Peter has an MBA in Marketing and Business Strategy from Monash University, and a B. Sc(Hons) from the University of Melbourne.
