Job Title:Inside Sales Representative

Summary

Talari Networks is seeking a motivated, self-directed Inside Sales Representative (ISR) with a history of over-achievement creating leads and selling technical products. The ideal candidate has a strong will to compete and win with confidence and ambition. This person must be able to manage all stages of the sales cycle, working closely with prospects, channel partners and the field sales teams. Fluent with CRM/PRM systems and comfortable working with and tracking key sales metrics, the ISR is a key player and important contributor to the overall success of the Talari Networks sales team. This position will be based at Talari’s San Jose, California headquarters, adjacent to the popular dining and shopping amenities of Santana Row.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed sales and activity targets
  • Perform outbound calls to target prospect accounts
  • Develop inbound leads from various sources and qualify for business potential
  • Contact prospects and partners through, but not limited to, phone calls, email, mailings, fax and seminars to communicate opportunities and to extend initiatives with the company

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • Proven success in building and maintaining successful relationships with prospective and existing customers and channel partners
  • Work experience should include a minimum of five years inside sales, sales or sales support experience, ideally with a networking and/or telecommunications company
  • Prefer technical selling experience with an understanding of networking and IP technology solutions and expertise in telecommunications and wide area networking

Summary

Talari Networks is looking for a Network Systems/Sales Engineer with the skills to design and manage WAN Virtualization solutions in medium-to-large enterprise networks from early technological evangelizing through the evaluation to closing and the implementation of production networks. We need an individual with technical skills who is also able to communicate concisely and effectively for Talari to its customers. This is a rare opportunity to get involved at an early stage with an exciting new Silicon Valley company.

The Systems Engineer (SE) is a technical professional who possess an in-depth knowledge of enterprise networking as well as specialized knowledge of wide area networks. The SE is able to demonstrate technical leadership and is a subject matter expert on Talari’s Adaptive Private Networking products and their use. The SE is proficient in distributed networking architectures, WAN Optimization strategies, and competitive offerings in the WAN access product space. The SE is a partner in the sales process, participates in the creation of sales strategy and takes ownership of technical responsibilities within customer and channel partner accounts. This role includes preparing and delivering presentations, account management, assisting customers and partners with evaluations and benchmarks, system configuration, and system installation. The SE will maintain the relationship with customer through all phases of product use to ensure highly satisfied and reference willing customers. The SE will be asked on occasion to assist the dedicated Talari Customer Satisfaction Team with post-sales technical support for issues with their customers. The SE may also be called upon to assist with trade shows and other marketing or lead generation events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), Inside Sales Representatives (ISRs) and Talari executives to evangelize the value of our product to prospective customers
  • Contribute to RFPs, RFQs and RFIs
  • Acquire deep understanding of customer’s networks and the current challenges they face
  • Effectively and responsibly relay customer input and demands to Talari's Technical Marketing and Engineering teams to improve our product
  • Preparation and delivery of technical product and architecture presentations at the Director and CIO level
  • Develop technical solutions to customer business issues, including and identifying technologies beyond Talari products and solutions
  • Provide direct hands-on education of customer’s technical staff on the features and use of the Talari product line
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of a network design proposal for customer trials with clear enumeration of success criteria
  • Responsible pre-staging and testing of customer trials at Talari premises to assure customer satisfaction during future customer evaluations
  • On-site presence with customer during installation and evaluations during trials
  • Work closely with Talari RTMs to assist in closing deals
  • Responsible for consultation on network architectural choices and tradeoffs for deployment of Talari’s products in production networks
  • Work closely with the Customer Satisfaction team to jointly manage the customer experience during post sales deployments of Talari products
  • Contribute to meeting revenue targets by providing pertinent, timely and on-going customer technical information flow
  • Contribute to building ''Best Practices'' among peers in sales and systems engineering
  • Work closely with channel partners and channel partner technical staff on education and assisting with channel deals

Technical and Functional Skills Required 

  • Fluent in network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, and VoIP
  • Expert understanding of architecting, managing, and maintaining VLANs, WANs, and LANs
  • Strong direct hands-on experience with firewalls, WAN services, L2/L3 Switching, Routers, OSPF, BGP, Firewalls, IPsec VPNs, MPLS Networks, Cisco IOS, VLAN, WAN, and NAT
  • Understanding of QoS at the core router, WAN router and within WAN service providers’ cloud
  • Direct expertise in Cisco IOS CLI for configuration of policies, access control lists, and syntax in routers and firewalls
  • Microsoft Visio and experience creating network architecture drawings

Required

  • 3+ years experience supporting technical sales of enterprise network solutions to corporate accounts
  • Willingness to take the initiative and drive projects to completion
  • Ability to travel 20% of time or more on the west coast
  • Ability to make effective technical presentations to senior technical staff at customer, partner and internal locations
  • Position is based at Talari's San Jose HQ with the expectation of the SE being present at customer sites or in the office

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading new architectures and designs for the APN Virtual WAN technology development.
  • Responsible for patents of the new innovations in the APN space.
  • Performs as an individual contributor on new large systems and new large network design architectures.
  • Active participant in reviewing of technical materials produced by the Network Protocol Team for quality.
  • Leads the team in trouble shooting and problem resolution of issues through test and in the field.
  • Leads the team by example in work ethic/work style and mentoring the development of other staff members.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 – 12 years of related experience with a minimum of 4 years as a software architect.
  • Proven track record as a software architect, specifically network protocol architect.
  • Strong background in high performance forwarding plane network design.
