Why We Love Network Challenges (and You Should Too!)
It’s not often that you find an organization that loves network challenges. It’s more common to find IT administrators and network engineers that groan over applications that aren’t performing as they should, that are terrified by the thought of a network outage and are even more afraid of the time it will take before backup resources can be fully connected.
However, these are challenges that we at Talari see almost every day. And it’s our job to address and mitigate these problems through our industry-leading Software Defined THINKING WAN solutions. Depending on the exact issue a company might face, we have a solution: Be it our software-defined WAN, hybrid WAN, WAN to cloud or Internet as WAN, we know the best ways to combat poor performing applications, network outages and less-than-seamless backups.
“Depending on the exact issue a company might face, we have a solution: We know the best ways to combat poor performing applications, network outages and less-than-seamless backups.”
Here, we’ll take a look at some of the reasons why we love network challenges like these, and why you should too.
Poorly performing applications
This is one of the most common issues business face today. We recently helped general practice accounting firm Whiting & Partners with just this problem, as the company and its staff experienced considerable challenges with its email, virtual desktop and Voice over Internet Protocol applications. As email, VDI and VoIP continue to be pivotal parts of the firm’s daily working processes, administrators needed to ensure that these programs perform as they should.
“We wanted to allow staff to be able to work from whatever office they were at, instead of having to travel to the one where the data they needed to work on resided,” company administrators noted.
So what makes us here at Talari love this kind of challenge? Because it offers us the opportunity to select the best solution for our customers and their needs. In this case, WAN virtualization or a Software Defined WAN using Talari’s Adaptive Private Networking technology was deployed to ensure that data would be routed over the most reliable network path. Our Talari solution is also able to aggregate multiple network connections (i.e. MPLS, Internet, Cellular, Satellite, etc.) and continually monitor the performance of each by measuring loss, latency and jitter. With this technology in place, traffic is routed on a by-packet basis to ensure that each takes the best possible route.
Now, the firm is unable to recognize any problems with its critical applications, because if one connection goes down, traffic is seamlessly re-routed to another, more reliable path.
“This gives us complete carrier diversity and, with Talari, the resiliency that we were looking for,” said Chris Haydon, Whiting & Partners IT manager.
Network outages can spell disaster for an organization, especially if the backup resources in place take a long time to connect. For Meritrust Credit Union, downtime meant staff members were unable to connect with key applications or data, and customers were unable to use ATM machines. When an outage did take place, tellers were forced to hand-write receipts and then manually enter the transactions into their system once a connection was re-established.
In this case, Talari was able to deliver a failover solution with full-time use of bandwidth through available DSL or backup cable circuits. This ensured Meritrust had a fully integrated disaster recovery strategy in place, resulting in higher staff productivity and a better experience for customers.
Network challenges, although frustrating, can present the opportunity to not only address the issue at hand, but improve processes across the board. These organizations understand why we love network challenges. If your organization experiences anything like this, you can count on Talari to find and integrate the best solution for your individual case. To find out more, watch this product demo today.
