On-premise SD-WAN is one of the architecture types in which the SD-WAN is setup with a local box “on-premise” or at the business’s location.
On-premise SD-WAN is one of a few architecture types whereby a business or organization sets up a local SD-WAN box (like a plug-n-play router). Unlike other approaches to SD-WAN architecture, on-premise SD-WAN is not intended to connect with cloud gateway services. It’s most commonly seen with companies who host their applications in-house rather than utilizing cloud applications. On-premise SD-WAN is still capable of performing real-time traffic shaping.
